Ingress Missions: GTC Wander Series

Missions in Ingress form an important part of my program to keep fit. I used them as an incentive to get out the door, and to stay out until I've walked the minimum time, or more. Usually, I find myself doing more because I want to complete either a series or a long single mission.

Last Sunday, I completed this cute little series, called the GTC Wander. It's the cure series of dancing aliens forming a rainbow-flag pattern in the middle of the screen.

This one took me through the town centre of Gungahlin, which was very educational as I haven't visited for a couple of months, and the building that's been going on up there is phenomenal. The shopping centres have expanded, and a multi-level carpark has gone in, and the various construction works just haven't finished.

Time to Complete:
The average time for each mission segment is about 15 minutes, although I took between a half and three-quarters of an hour because I like to glyph-hack, capture, fully deploy, link and field to the limit of whatever keys I happen to have. It can be completed in a lot less time than I managed using quick hacks.

Complexity:
This is a very straight-forward mission series, with easily accessible portals, but you need to be careful to hack in order, and not give in to the temptation to hack a portal as you pass it. There are one or two occasions where you later hack something you pass, but they are very few and far between, and don't require much physical backtracking as the portals are quite close together.  However, it can be frustrating to wait while the portal cools down  enough to be hacked again, so it's best to wait until you've completed that leg of the series.

Terrain and Location Notes:

Location Accessibility: You can travel to the mission area by bus, although there is plenty of parking, if you prefer to travel by car, although much of it requires payment.

Traversing the Mission Series: The first mission starts at the back of the town centre, a block past the car-park behind the school, and across a few fairly busy road.  Apart from road crossings, all portals are accessible from the footpath and footpaths connect each portal, so no cross-country is required. Gradient is flat, and typically urban centre. It should be possible to do this mission by wheelchair.

Technically, you can do this series of missions in any order, but doing it in order means minimal back-tracking and takes you in a logical sequence through the town. I would recommend doing it in order for ease of starting each new section, and for logical progression, since each individual mission making up the series demands that the portals be hacked in a set order. You cannot hack in any order, so this is the fastest way to end one mission segment, and find the beginning of the next.

Toilets and Meals: Toilets are available in the shopping centres and the individual missions don't take you further than two or three blocks away from a shopping centre entrance. For access, though, you do need to make sure you are missioning during shopping hours. The same goes for finding places to buy food and drink. You can buy food, or bring it to one of a number of open spaces where you can eat.

Mission Medals:

In order, the mission medals are as follows:
